Hollywood studios have confused a glorified fan-fiction/decent Threadless t-shirt idea for a great movie script, and they’re now in a bidding war for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, a not-yet-released parody of the Jane Austen classic that adds some extra content that implies a zombie invasion was simultaneously occurring…
Will Clark is set to direct “Pride and Predator,” which veers from the traditional period costume drama when an alien crash lands and begins to butcher the mannered protags, who suddenly have more than marriage and inheritance to worry about.
WTF? Did the copyright expire or something…
Thanks to Philip for the linkage

Copyright for books is 50 years after the author’s death? I’m pretty sure it’s been expired for a long time…
Doing a Zombie parody off a serious classic that everybody knows is probably quite a sellable idea. Pride and Prejudice was probably chosen since the recent film adaptation was so popular. <3 Kiera Knightley
Varierty!
Sounds classy, might name my firstborn daughter that.
Sort of.
But you’re right, it’s probably been out of copyright for awhile. But still, I can’t see why people care now, the Kiera Knightly isn’t exactly recent (2005) enough to ride its wave.
